$100 Credit to Advertise with Google: Why Use it?
March 14, 2012Have you ever searched for something using Google? If you have, you have already been exposed to advertiser's that use Google's advertising services.
When you search for something using google, you get a page that lists ads on the right hand side

The uniqueness of advertising with a search engine is that an ad will be presented to people who are looking for specific products and services. For example, when I am looking for tennis shoes, I type "best running shoes" and google fetches websites that talk about running shoes, as well as ads of companies that have... well... the best running shoes.
Another advantage of advertising with google, is that although an ad may be presented to a person, if that person does not click on the ad, the advertiser does not pay for having appeared in the results page. This is a form of branding; free branding mind you. A person may read the name of a company or product, and a seed has been planted. That person may search for the company or product as the purchase decision progresses.
Creating an ad with google is very easy. We need only to think of terms and phrases that are used by those who are looking for our solutions. Note, that search engine advertising gives us the opportunity to target as narrowly as we want. After all, if we are paying for this service, we would want to reduce the risk of ad clicks from internet users who are not specifically looking for our products.
So to help you get started, we are giving you a $100 credit to advertise with google. And if I were you, I would squeeze this lemon like if I were about to get the flu ( think vitamin C...
)
THE AD COULD LOOK LIKE THIS:

THE CRAFTING OF THE AD
THE GOAL: this is the most important question. What are we trying to achieve with our ad? In this example, let's imagine I am a real state agent, and I am selling a home in Pacific Palisades.
THE KEYWORDS: I would get my add to appear for anybody who searches for "Pacific Palisades," "houses in Pacific Palisades," or "houses for sale in Pacific Palisades."
TO REDUCE THE WRONG CROWD: I would be very specific in my choice of content for the ad (also know as the copywriting)
THE COPY-WRITING: Since the copyright space is very limited, only 60 to 62 characters including spaces, is best if I am VERY SPECIFIC: townhouse w/ mountain views $750K more info: 310-508-3855
Here is another example-
Let's imagine I work for a non for profit organization, and we offer counseling services about retirement living, long term care alternatives, and... all things elder care. My organization is about to lounch a new program that aims to help seniors socialize through enriching activities like book clubs, art walks, and film noir evenings.
THE AD COULD LOOK LIKE THIS:

THE CRAFTING OF THE AD
THE GOAL: to draw seniors to participate in socializing activities offered by my organization
THE KEYWORDS: Assuming that I am in daily conversation with my target audience, I would list terms and phrases they often use when they refer to my organization.
Let's say I can remember that my counseling is often referred to as "senior support," "elder activities," and "healthy aging." Then, through my google ads account I would indicate I want to appear in the results page when a person searches for "senior support" "elder activities" and "senior activities" WITHIN THE GEOGRAPHIC AREA in which I offer services (DID I FORGET TO MENTION THAT ON TOP OF IT ALL WE CAN DO GEOGRAPHIC TARGETING? simply by indicating the geographical area in which we want the ad displayed. And only internet users that use the keywords we chose, within the geographical area we indicated, will see the ad)
TO REDUCE THE WRONG CROWD: (we want to reduce the risk of paying for the wrong people clicking our ad ) I would be very specific about what I am announcing
THE COPY-WRITING: the goal: I want seniors within a specific geographic area to become aware about my organization's new program. The program organizes socializing activities specifically targeted for seniors and elders. Since the copyright space is very limited, only 60 to 62 characters including spaces, I will be VERY SPECIFIC.
Notice how the keywords are highlighted. The highlighting of these words attracts people's attention; believe it!
