As we continue to grow with the internet, more of us are investing resources in a website web site. As a business owner, I have come to the conclusion that the most important aspects of a website web site are continuity, proper functioning of links and forms, and a way for two way communication between website publishers and website users.

When I first began to research the creation of my website web site, I was excited about the boundless whistles and blowers that I could add. I imagined that visitors would be impressed by snazzy banners, flash effects, animated menus, and… you name it. Sure, people enjoy the whistles and blowers. But, as seasoned owner, I have realized that what matters most are the basic elements of my websites web sites.

For small businesses and independent contractors whose goal is to provide information and generate leads, an effective website web site can be accomplished with a basic design. What is most important is to have a well thought out structure and properly working elements. By structure I refer to the continuity of the website’s web site's feel throughout the various pages, as well as the strategic linkage and placement of navigational menus. By working elements I refer to properly working forms, updated content, links that take the visitor to where the author intended, and ideally, a way to contact the website’s web site's owner.

As a user, I am more likely to recommend, sign up for a newsletter or revisit a website web site when I experience seamless navigation throughout a site, working links whenever I click, properly working forms whenever I submit, and a way for me to communicate with somebody. Of course, when I submit an inquiry or give feedback I expect some kind of acknowledgment (a simple auto generated email does it for me).  As an avid internet user I continue to sharpen my webition (a.k.a intuition as a web user).

I spend little time in websites web site that change their feel from one page to another. Also, when I am purchasing a product, if the PayPal button does not work the way it should, I try to avoid consuming from such website web site. I feel unsafe. I could go on and on about scenarios that ultimately deter me from using or returning to a website web site. But in short, whenever I feel a website web site is not professional, nor following minimum operational standards, I feel unsafe and exposed to negative risks.

In conclusion, whistles and blowers are not necessary to have a good website web site. Visitors and owners are well served with functional websites web sites: sites that fulfill the promises they represent. In other words, informative websites web sites have up to date content. Those that contain links direct the user to appropriate pages. And if forms are part of the pages, these are properly and securely processed. Lastly, it is really good to give users a way to communicate with the people behind the scenes. Of course, I recommend some form of acknowledgment to a user's submission. Glitzy effects and complex applications can enhance a visitor's experience; think showcase. But, the foundations of an effective website web site lie in the subtle, and sometimes unnoticeable, common elements.
